Arrive at the Alghero airport and pick up your arranged rental car. It’s a short drive to downtown Alghero, an attractive, lively city which offers an irresistible combination of history, architecture, culture, boutique shopping, water sports, fine food and wine. After checking in to your hotel, the remainder of the day is at your leisure. We suggest a drive along the scenic coastline until you reach the Capo Caccia, the last point on the Alghero Gulf. Enjoy the beautiful sunset and stop at a local restaurant for dinner on your own. 

 

DAY 2 - ALGHERO

 

Following breakfast, you will be picked up at your hotel by an English-speaking art historian for a private, guided walking tour of this interesting city. You will visit the stunning, 14th century, Catalan-Gothic style Cathedral of St. Mary, the Church of St. Francis, considered the most important Catalan example in Sardegna, and the Maddalena Tower that dominates the Alghero port. Enjoy a stroll in the historical center which faces the sea and consists of a labyrinth of narrow lanes, most of which are walking streets only. Afterwards, there will be time to browse and shop for the famous coral jewelry on your own. This evening is at your leisure.

 

DAY 3 - ALGHERO

 

Following breakfast, you will have the day to enjoy at your leisure. We recommend visiting the Mosca and Sella Estate in Piani (7 miles from Alghero). This is one of Europe’s largest full-cycle producers of premium wines, produced from grapes grown and harvested on the estate. Visit the large cellars that shelter the oldest oak barrels in Sardinia. After the visit you will have a chance to buy a bottle of the sophisticated wines that embody the best of Mediterranean wines.

 

DAY 4 - ALGHERO

 

This morning you will drive to the Alghero Airport to drop off your rental car and board your departure flight home.
